WhatsApp has finally delivered a long-awaited feature to its two billion users. First announced in August, the company has begun rolling out the ability to move chat history between iOS and Android.
Specifically, the latest rollout is for migrating WhatsApp chat history from iPhones to Samsung phones. Both devices must meet a number of requirements. These include compatibility with the Samsung Smart Switch app, recent versions of WhatsApp on Android and iOS, and a USB-C to Lightning cable or similar data cables.

Per WhatsApp’s official migration guide, your new Samsung phone must still be or restored to its factory settings. It also must use the same phone number that you have on your old iPhone. Once you got those, you’ll need to follow a number of steps that, while rather complicated, WhatsApp guarantee is private and secure.
WhatsApp is also working with Google to expand the migration tool to other Android phones using the Android Data Restore Tool.
